Filipina Artist Hails from Pakil Immortalizes Paskong Pinoy

Benito hails from Pakil, Laguna. She is a self-taught painter who first forayed into professional art in year 2007. She has participated in various local and international group shows and two one-woman exhibits, with the third one held last October at the Galerie Joaquin. Jovan Benito's Christmas-themed artwork graces Pan de Manila's paper bags and take-out boxes for the holidays. These are available in their branches outside shopping malls all over Metro Manila, Luzon, Cebu, and Iloilo. Her colorful taste in paints becomes a feminine rendered art into canvas and it attracts a family oriented eye that can feel happiness looking in her works.

September, the Month of Turumba

September is the special month where Turumba procession is held in Pakil, Laguna. People especially  its own people working and residing somewhere in other cities, will go in their townhomes and commemorate the celebration of Turumba. With this special ocassion, family and friend reunions also happens. In this crucial events in this town, giving special treatment to Mother Mary is the center of attention. People pray and reenact the founding of Turumba. At the Turumba Shrine starts and end the Turumba procession. The folks dance with hymn of Turumba and shouted Sa Birhen!.
